Sneak Peek - re Hotel and Residences

Luxury hotel/condo will be a downtown Ottawa icon

re Hotel & Residences brings new life to Sparks Street

Ottawa, Ontario - March 16, 2010Ashcroft Urban Developments announces the official launch of re Hotel & Residences, a unique and exciting project in Ottawa’s central business core. Part boutique hotel, part luxury condominium, re heralds a revival of Ottawa’s historic Sparks Street. re will be to 21st century Ottawa what the Château Laurier was to the 20th – an iconic architectural landmark, a meeting place for politicians, business people and trendsetters, and an exclusive retreat at the very heart of everything that matters in the capital. More than just a building, re Hotel & Residences is a visionary concept, and the winner of a national competition sponsored by the National Capital Commission. Pioneered by David Choo of Ashcroft Urban Developments, re sets a cosmopolitan standard for beauty, luxury, elegance and fine living in keeping with Ottawa’s standing as a G8 capital.

The setting
Few national capitals boast Ottawa’s natural setting. Our stunning Gothic Revival Parliament Buildings, set on a bluff high above the majestic Ottawa River, are framed by the natural beauty of the ancient Gatineau Hills. Because the condominiums will occupy only re’s upper floors, views will be stunning. And because of its unique location in the heart of Ottawa’s Parliamentary Precinct, it’s a view that will forever remain unimpeded, changing only with the seasons. A setting of unparalleled beauty and a front-row seat overlooking Parliament Hill: This is only the start of what re Hotel & Residences has to offer.

The concept
A stay at re Hotel & Residences will be no less stunning than the views. From the building’s elegant lines to the sumptuous appointments of its suites, every detail has been thought through by architect Roderick Lahey of Roderick Lahey Architects, Inc. and by Cecconi Simone Inc., an interior design firm. The hotel will be an oasis of luxury, where every amenity will be available to guests. And because of the pairing of hotel and condominium, every condominium resident will have access to all the hotel’s services, from the concierge to the restaurant.

The hotel
Imagine stepping out of your hotel and into the very centre of power. The House of Commons, the Senate, the Supreme Court of Canada; the offices of the Prime Minister and major government departments and agencies; the headquarters of dozens of national organizations – all are only steps away. Well rested after a night in a room where in which every element has been carefully chosen, you are ready to tackle your day’s work. The hotel’s attentive and knowledgeable staff attend to mundane details, leaving you free to concentrate on business.

When your work is done, relaxation is close by. The National Arts Centre, the National Gallery of Canada and the nightspots and award-winning restaurants of the ByWard Market or busy Elgin Street are an easy amble away. Closer still are re’s spa, its sixth-floor lounge, and its own trend-setting restaurant.

The condominium suites
re’s residents get more than a superb location and an iconic view: They get an elegant and refined urban lifestyle. Every suite will be provided with finishes of the highest quality, including Euro-style ‘spa’ bathrooms, hardwood or porcelain flooring, and kitchen appliances by Gaggenau and Bosch. Residents will enjoy urban living at its absolute best. And when they have guests, the condominium tower’s 12th floor Sky Lounge will be THE place to gather.
